In this message, James Wood takes us to Acts 6:1–7 to explore why elders must prioritise prayer—and how a praying eldership helps the church flourish. As the early church faced division and growing needs, the apostles committed themselves to “prayer and the ministry of the word,” recognising that the church’s life and strength come from dependence on Jesus. James reminds us that prayer strengthens the church’s unity, spiritual health, and gospel witness, while pointing us to Jesus—the Chief Shepherd—who modelled a life of deep dependence on the Father. This message calls us back to the basics: to pray, to depend on Christ, and to flourish under His loving leadership.
